Setsubun!

Hello! As promised, today I 'm going to talk about Setsubun, an ancient Japanese tradition that today is still practiced and temples of Shinnyo-en advantage for a special ceremony!

It is a celebration held the day before the start of spring. It literally means "separation stations" held on February 3. Coincides with the Chinese New Year, is accompanied by a ritual to cleanse bad last year and ward off demons.

Throwing the beans is usually the man who is the year of the Chinese Zodiac animal. They are thrown soybeans to the door or a family member wearing an Oni (ogre mask) while throwing say " Oni wa soto! Fuku wa uchi ". The literal meaning is "Out demons that come fortune!" The seeds are released to purify the house throwing away evil spirits and bad luck away. Then, to bring good luck, it is customary to eat soybeans, one for each year you have.

In Buddhist temples there are celebrations for Setsubun. Priests and guests throwing seeds roasted soybeans, sweet.

Us this weekend at the temple we had the ceremony Setsubun, as guest of honor has been Martin, he was the Reinosa that was in the first ceremony of Shinnyo-en I attended, so I was excited to see him again (since he do not live in Spain ). The rest of us got the surprise that came Nichiro-san illusion still more so ( the Japanese man who brought the Shinnyo-en to Cantabria ). The ceremony is the most interesting and after the sermon was quite emotional as it was one of those who recovered gave the founder a few years ago.

This ceremony could come Aroa, ( for those who do not know, my best friend ), which was the first time she came and at least coincided with one of the funniest ceremonies and a youth meeting .

We talked about what we looked this Buddhism, on lessons gives us to help others and treat people in a kind and as always enjoy a chat in several languages as we translate each other.

After the meeting had Sesshin in me again we talked about my maternal ancestor, which still had not found the way to the Shinnjo parents and kept asking for help to reach them and be able to guide me and help me, again, for the fifth time, which called my attention enough, they told me to keep getting further in education, that I have the support of the founders for this purpose, and that I should show it and share it with more people.

The truth is my second setsubun and everyone has been more interesting than the last, not this year , but the previous play me throw candy as it was the year of the snake and thought I would die of shame at any time.

Exactly what I was told in this sesshin is that for my Oyasono (the main temple of Shinnyo-en in Japan) is as the home of my soul, and that in the temple of Santander as I am in my home and that feeling is the one I must teach and share.

Now after reading this, who can tell me some guidelines and are not the sweetest thing you can hear.

So if you are someone close to me that wants to knows this environment, and like to know about it, feel free to tell me, and if you're not close to me, and would like to know and do not know how, send me a mail or something I 'll be happy to help you know.

Enjoy it !

Disfrutadlo!

Shinnyo-en

Today I come to speak another little about Buddhism, I will tell you a little about Buddhism to which I belong, the Shinnyo-en.

But first an introduction to Buddhism:

The history of Buddhism begins in the sixth century with the birth of Buddha and continuing today. This makes Buddhism one of the oldest religions practiced today.

Buddhism is not organized with a vertical hierarchy. There is no church or some sort of patriarch, religious authority rests primarily in the sacred texts, especially in the sutras or sermons of the Buddha.

There are three types of Buddhism:

Theravāda

Means 'the word [doctrine] of the ancients'. It is the oldest school of Buddhism is relatively conservative.
Theravada promotes the concept of Vibhajjavada (literally "Teaching of Analysis') This doctrine holds that the clear introspection must be the result of individual experience, critical investigation, and reasoning, as opposed to blind faith.

Theravada goal is liberation (or freedom) of dukkha as the Four Noble Truths, which is achieved by reaching nirvana.

According to the Theravada, nirvana attained by arahants is the same as that obtained by the Buddha himself. But it is superior because it caught himself and knew teach others.

Mahāyāna

Scholars believe that the Mahayana as a separate movement began around the first century in southern India.

The development of Mahāyāna was a slow and gradual process. Although Theravada adheres strictly to the teachings that most clearly can be attributed to the historical Buddha, the Mahayana recognizes teaching of the Buddha himself more a method than a doctrine, in the sense that investigates to discover the truth without prejudice and with full freedom to criticize or question teachings or theories of the past.

In other words, what the Mahayana teaches can be verified in an essentially identical manner to how the validity of scientific theories is confirmed.

Vajrayāna

Also known as Esoteric Buddhism, is an extension of Mahayana Buddhism that differs from this in the adoption of additional techniques, but not in its philosophical aspects.

In Vajrayana is often seen as the third major school of Buddhism, along with Mahayana and Theravada schools. The Vajrayana Buddhist school often classified as the latest step in the evolution of Indian Buddhism, which listed as Theravada, Mahayana and Vajrayana.

The Vajrayana exists today in the form of two major sub-schools:

· Tibetan Buddhism

· Shingon Buddhism, within this school is in school Shinnyo.

Shinnyo-en is a form of esoteric Buddhism.

The founder, Shinjo Ito, along with his wife founded Shinnyo-en bearer of esoteric Shingon but available to all through monitoring the Nirvana Sutra. They spent the rest of his life to this organization following their religious duties.

Shinnyo en is the only order that includes a form of meditation called sesshin because practitioners may be not only religious and because he is still the main canon Nirvana Sutra.

Sesshin is a spiritual training that allows implementation in everyday words that convey spiritual teaching and compassion of the Buddha.

Unlike other forms of esoteric Buddhism monk ordered where necessary, in Shinnyo is open to anyone who wants to practice Buddhism. The Shingon and Tendai orders are for people who want to become monks.

The word translates as Shinnyo en is "real garden" or "garden Thathagata". Thathagata is a fundamental concept and the Mahāyāna philosophy is interpreted as "the true nature of all phenomena".

This a summary of the most importants buddhism schools and Shinnyo-en school, enjoy it!

Most recent Buddhism experiences

I'll talk a little about Buddhism, namely Buddhism Shinnyo-en.

Just little over a year ago I'm practicing this branch of Buddhism so I think I really have a lot of more things to learn.

Why I will speak first of this?, easy, from last week until the end of this we are in winter training of this year, which makes me to be very focused on it.

Someday I'll tell you about how I started to practice but today I will tell my most recent experiences.

Three weeks or so ago came here a reinosa, for understand, a kind of priest. regularly once a month or so, we have a meeting of young people where usually bring some foreing reinosa to speak to us about any topic.

This time was a Japanese who spoke, according to him, bad English (he really spoke great) and no Spanish.

First we did the chanting (chanted prayers) and then he started to teach us about the History of Buddhism.

After a fun history lesson, we started the meditation sesshin, I only had four, counting this time, of these meditations, and the other times were not even half as intense.

Before starting, this man told us the first time he practice this meditation, he thought that reinosas had detectives after him, and one of the practitioners there told him that he believed that these people had super powers.

This time it was my turn to discover that's true.

Shinnyo Buddhists have a big belief in ancestors, they are protecting us.

This man told me that he saw a soldier, a family by my mother, person who I had never met and who died in combat in the war. This ancestor was really attached to me and was suffering seeing me so depressed these days. He asked me to please ask for one osegaki prayer, and I did. Obviously everyone is free to think whatever you want, but I actually have a few relatives on my mother's war dead which were very close to her. And know that that ancestor's protecting me and worrying about me made me feel very happy.

The last thing he told me was that I should study, he believed that if I started to study what I really had in mind I would have a bright future and could thrive outside and have a job that I really like. If you don't know I have thinking a few months to do the entrance exam to the University of biology, but is a thing that I had spoken with a few people so there was no way that he knew that I doubted about it.

So that my most intense expirence with Shinnyo-en sesshin meditation.

I thin I will left it here, please tell me what you thik abot this topic and the blog, thank you a lot.

See you!
